Providing Equitherapy Since 1985
In 1985, Tarri Tanaka established Cornerstone Equestrian Center. Her vision was to bring assisted riding to individuals with physical or emotional disabilities. Tarri knew the benefits of assisted riding, as during her life she lived with a progressive neurological disorder.
Cornerstone was a Christian organization and board meetings were started with a prayer. Many of the original members were from a Christian background with an interest in serving others, and may have been from the same church. In the Bible , Jesus is referred to as the cornerstone, because the cornerstone is an important part of the foundation of a building; building a structure on a strong cornerstone ensures the strength of the building. I think the intent was to include Christian ideas and actions into the organization.
